The first thing you’ll want to do in order to become known as an expert on the web is to have a website or blog that proclaims your expertise.
Some of you will be surprised to learn that I strongly believe that most people who are looking for real information online will not be as impressed by a site’s snappy design -- complete with lots of bells, whistles and moving objects -- as much as they will be impressed by the caliber of
Questions to Ask Yourself
• Is my site newsworthy? Does it contain good, solid information?
• Are my articles well written?
• Are my links not only informative, but inspired? (In other words, does my site contain links to important information that I had to dig for –- i.e., that only a real expert would know about?)
Ironically, the size of the site’s organization is often NOT indicative of the caliber of the information the site provides. In fact, I have found that often, a large organization –- probably because there are so many people who must approve all the information that ends up being posted –- will not always have the level of information contained on a site owned and maintained by one or two experts!
Some Examples of Superb Experts' Websites
- One of my very favorite websites is MARY SHOMON'S About.com Thyroid Site. For years, Mary has been educating the public about thyroid disease. She updates her site at a prodigious rate and her information is always current and extremely well-researched.
- Another favorite of mine is The Annie Appleseed Project, owned by the indefatigable ANN FONFA, who calls herself -- very accurately, I might add -- "a woman with breast cancer and an attitude." Ann is a 20+ year breast cancer survivor, who has kept herself alive (she would rather say "thriving") through almost constant research on available treatments, both alternative and conventional. She also hosts some of the most wonderful conferences on alternative treatments for cancer.
- I normally wouldn't include TWO websites on similar topics, except I can't ignore DANA TRENTINI'S excellent HypothyroidMom.com. Like Mary Shomon, Dana keeps up with the current research into hypothyroidism. She, too, adds cutting-edge information to her website on an almost daily basis.
Both Mary and Dana have HUGE followings, both on their websites and on their Facebook pages. In addition, the two women have collaborated on a book that will be published later this year. It promises to be a New York Times bestseller!
- Yet another favorite of mine is RICK SHAPIRO'S LateStageCancer.com. Here, you will find lots of true success stories of patients who opted not to undergo the conventional treatments for cancer, but instead, to use non-conventional treatments -- and lived! Rick also has links to lots of innovative cancer treatment sites. Rick, too, is publishing a book in the near future.
Remember, when creating your website, information first. Design, bells, whistles and moving objects later (if at all). But your web presence must confidently proclaim that you are an expert.
. It is a very good article, I am so happy to get so many good points in this article and its an inspiration and I prefer to read the quality content. Thanks

Excellent site, keep up the good work my colleagues would love this. I read a lot of blogs on a daily basis and for the most part, people lack substance but, I just wanted to make a quick comment to say I’m glad I found your blog. Thanks
